BMW - The Ultimate Driving MachineMy baby, a 1995 BMW 325i.
LOL, notice how the colour scheme of the New York license plate matches the colour of the car quite nicely! Dieses ist schnellI thought I had been spoiled by Hondas. Honda makes such a great cars that I thought I was going to have a hard time finding something I liked as much. I still believe that Honda makes some very nice cars (I'd love an S2000!) and the best shifting manual transmissions out there, but I was leaning heavily towards German engineering this time around. I had almost decided on buying a Porsche 944 when I came across this car. I didn't have my butt in the driver's seat for more than a minute before realizing that I could be just as happy (happier even) in a BMW (sitting in the driver's seat is like sitting in a big comfy arm chair). It has (almost) as much power as the Porsche, handles just as nicely, looks as good, sounds as good, and is actually useful for going grocery shopping or running errands. The rear seats actually have enough room for adult humans, and passengers don't have to clamber over the front seats to get in them. (I still can't believe I own a 4-door...). Plus for the same amount of money I could afford a BMW almost 10 years newer than an equivalently priced Porsche. I am now a "BMW Believer" (going on fanatic) and I can see myself buying more of these cars in the future. However, with four big fat tires and rear wheel drive it probably isn't any better as a winter car than the Porsche... but who in their right minds would want to drive a car like this in the snow!?! We have a Honda CRV for that! Besides, as I keep pointing out to everyone here, this part of New York State doesn't have winter. We skip right from late Fall to early Spring without passing through (what I would call) winter. New Yorkers tend to confuse "having a little snow" with "having winter". Upstate New York has winter, but down around the city we get a little snow and a few crisp mornings. It's not winter when the temperature hardly ever dips below freezing, if at all.
